Unconventional Gas

3 types of unconventional Gas:
1) Coalbed methane 2) Shell gas 3) Gas Hydrates (None are for commercial use).

1)Coal bed methane:.
--Gas found between the layers of coal.
--Its a clean gas
--Pressure from above leads to aDsorption of Methane into the coal.
--wells are dug to "Dewater" the coal==== which reduces the Pressure
--Thus releasing the Methane gas.
--IMPACT:
--wells thus dug = environmental impact ---protest in Tamil Nadu
--water generated from (Dewatering) coals === if untreated impacts fresh water.
--Methane is a Green house gas.
--Methane released from the coal contributes to 8% of total methane.
--India has 5th largest coal reserved.
