WWF- a NGO (Ecosystem: mainly Animals ..forest + water etc efficient + sustainable use)

TRAFFIC >its  a Wild Life Trade monitoring Network
>Formed by IUCN + WWF
>IUCN = says which species is more critical.
>formed when CITES came to force.
>So these NGO ensures CITES implementation.
>CITES is administered by UNEP.

Global Forest & Trade Network
what it does:
>sustainable use of forest by member companies.
>15 country are its member and many companies.

How it does:
>Provides Opinion+ Advise + platform for engagement.
>so that Reuse + efficient management = reduce forest requirement.
>Forest management= to create sustainable forest supplies.

Impact:
>USA is largest importer of wood.
>Many of its exporting countries endulged in Malpractice in deforestation.
>Now they will be disincentivised from the companies of USA.
>thus promoting sustainable use of Forest.

Natural Capital
What it is:
>Like machinary Nature itself is a capital---so WWF used Natural Capital whose depriciation is detrimental.

What has been done to conserve:
> Tools have been made for policy makers.
>InVEST = softwere to help in policy @ecosystem
>RIOS =Supports cost effective investment in Watershed management.

Which tool :
>InVEST (Integrated Valuation of Ecosystem Services and Tradeoffs).

What does InVEST does:
>Its a sofwtere.
>Evaluates value of Ecosystem  = models and map various servises that Ecosystem provides or the bio diversity within ecosystem provides.
>Available free of cost..... Policy makers can see the tradeoff between Environment , economy and social benefit very clearly.
>InVEST generates a scenerio as per Gov’s proposed policy to compare with the current situation of ecosystem.



AgWater Challenge
What it is?
>Formed by WWF and Ceres..... its a platform to engage with food and Beverage industries to promote sustainable water management or sourcing.

Why food and Beverage only:
>In WEF it was repeatedly said....Global food sector uses world’s 70% Fresh Water supplies.
How it does:
>It provides expert advise, peer review bring help from various NGOs.
>ex- Agriculture irrigation loss to be reduced through science.
>local practice is inculcated to further boost water efficiency.

>Earth Hour is celebrated by WWF
>Provides Financial support to Developing Nations as an implementing partner of GCF +GEF to achieve Paris Agreement  Targets.
